Description

Cat in the Box is an exciting trick-taking card game where players navigate a world inspired by quantum mechanics. Each player has a hand of cards with different values, but the color of each card is a mystery until it is played. The game is played over three rounds for three players and four rounds for four players. Before the game begins, players bid on how many tricks they think they can win based on their hand. Scoring rewards players for winning tricks and for sticking to their bids.

As players take turns, they declare the color of the card they play, marking their progress on a communal research board. Players must follow the lead color if possible, but they can declare that they "Do Not Have" any cards of that color, allowing them to play a card of the same value in a different color. Unique card values and colors are crucial - if a player is unable to play without causing a paradox, the round ends, and that player receives penalty points. The game encourages a fun balance between winning tricks and avoiding tricky situations, with the player who accumulates the highest score by the end declared the winner.
