Dark Blood invites players to enter a shadowy world where they take on the roles of unique cults vying for control over a small village. Players will engage in various actions, competing for key locations on the board, while also managing their cultists and resources.

The game unfolds over several rounds, with each round offering new challenges. Players will place their cultists in different locations, gather resources, and enhance their rituals. The outcome of each round can shift dramatically based on the actions taken, the balance of power in each area, and the strategies employed. By the end of the fifth round, players will tally their corrupted territories and other achievements to determine which cult has emerged victorious.
